When I was first diagnosed, I was told that I am a liver transplant candidate. I did not know what to do to understand the process and acquire the information I would need to begin an understanding of this disease. No doubt it is very complicated at best. But there are lots of answers out there. Some of the questions that have been answered to my satisfaction, and some not to my satisfaction will be listed in blogs to come.
How long does it take to get on the transplant list? I started the qualification process in March and was accepted in July of the same year. Other than frequent doctor visits and blood tests, I was required to attend rehabilitation meetings - 24 AA meetings and 24 group therapy meetings that were sponsored by the local Behavioral Health Choices agency. Needless to say, my attendance at these meetings opened up my mind to a whole new phase of my life, which proved incredible.
