What are the symptoms of liver cirrhosis how did I get there and how did I feel? Part 3. When I was diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver on January 5, I had thought my whole world was caving in around me and that I had just weeks to live. Well, for some reason, I got a reprieve and I am still here, I think for some reason that I do not know right now. January, February and March were basically pure hell for me. I was constantly getting blood tests and tests I could not even remember. I had lost 50 lbs. in 3 ½ weeks, felt worse than terrible and my energy was non-existent. (As a matter of fact, I felt so bad that I hoped I would die and was afraid that I wouldn’t. Joke!) I was as “weak as a cat”. It was a major chore just to get dressed, and walk around. One day I got out of my chair, went to the kitchen, and was afraid I wouldn’t make it back. I was at the low of the lows. I just laid around watched TV, took my meds, and slept a lot. Interestingly enough, my appetite was pretty good. I ate lots of fruits and veggies and drank some food supplements to keep my strength up and try to gain some weight back. I did experience some itching on my feet and ankles. In March, I began feeling better. I think it was a combination of the liver healing itself a little and my doctor getting my meds regulated to help my progress. I highly recommend to keep in touch with your body, so you can be more sensitive towards your meds, what you eat and drink, etc. I can’t say enough about the liver transplant specialists at OSU Medical Center. They and their staff are right on things, pay attention to details, and truly care. Part 4 is in the next blog.
